During the summer, I work longer days Monday through Thursday in order to have every other Friday off. While this schedule is great for long weekend trips and enjoying the nice weather, it’s relatively inconvenient for a routine-oriented person (like me). For the past couple of weeks – once my summer vacations were already in the books – I’ve been ready to go back to normal work hours and my morning routine.
6:00 am – Gym: Do I really want to wake up at 5:30 am to get to my spin class? Not necessarily. But if I wait until after work, I leave the risk of something coming up preventing me from getting to work out at all.
7:00 am – Meditation: I don’t like to shower immediately after a workout because I need to chill for a few minutes first. This is when I do my 10 minute Headspace meditation.
7:15 am – Coffee, Shower, Get Dressed, Breakfast: I put the coffee on before I hop into the shower, and pour a cup as soon as I get out. I wait until after I’ve gotten dressed to eat breakfast – often an oatmeal-based meal.
8:00 am – Pack Up and Go!: Before I leave, I pack my lunch, pour another cup of coffee into a to-go mug and make sure my work bag has all of my daytime necessities. Taking the Q and F trains to work should be an 11-15 minute commute door-to-door, but since the NYC subway system is awful, I like to give myself a half hour to get to work.
If you’re asking at which time I hug Zoro, the answer is…he lives with my family so I don’t get to see him every day. I just wish cuddling with him was part of my morning routine!
What do you guys do in the morning?
