Lunch Bag c/o
While I certainly – for once – am not headed back to school this fall, my brain has been in autopilot “back-to-school” mode. I remember the days when my mom would take me back-to-school shopping for a new backpack and lunchbox…and then when it was too cool to use a lunchbox so we “brown bagged” it. Even then, my mom would write (or draw) cute little messages on my brown bag, making my lunch just a little more special.
In high school, my friends would often break into my locker and steal my mom’s amazing lunches, leaving me with a personalized lunch bag and maybe a couple of Oreo’s. When I moved to Boston for grad school my mom gave me a bunch of pre-decorated brown bags, one of which is now framed in my bedroom…
Nostalgia aside, I’m not going back to school but I am getting back into a work routine. I’ve been MIA from Manhattan this summer, so I’ve been indulging in eating out lunches (not my fave) and snacking as meals (not enough) just to get by. I’m craving getting back into a routine, which is what I realize that back-to-school feeling is all about. For me, that now includes properly grocery shopping in order to pack (an attempt at) consistent, well-balanced lunches.
I’m over the wastefulness of brown bags, so I’m back to using a traditional lunch bag. I’m thoroughly enjoying this one from Marleylilly because a. it’s insulated, and b. it’s spacious. I feel confident my lunch will be safe from locker-pickers and subway-riders (scarred for life, thx high school). Plus, it’s monogrammed and has a tassel zipper! Talk about personalizing your lunch…this lunch bag is so me.
special thanks to Marleylilly for the lunch bag!
