How you doin’?
I come from a huge
baseball Yankees family. I’m talkin’ season tickets, dinner with Joe Girardi, DJ3K-batting-gloves-in-the-coat-closet kind of Yankee family. I love going to baseball games. Do I pay attention? Meh. Do I have a great time socializing? Obvi. But still, I totally dress the part of a gal who knows her Yanks.
A major fashion pet peeve of mine is when someone gets dressed up for something known to be casual…such as a baseball game. Please take your miniskirt, face of makeup and heels to the club gf, you look ridic.
Fortunately, my brother is not only a lifetime baseball fan but also one of the Yankees’ batboys. Read: I basically can choose to “borrow” a jersey of any player from any year out of his closet. BUT for all you non-jersey owners/wearers, I gotchu.
This is my typical baseball outfit. I like it because it’s rare I just go to a game. Like, there’s a chance I’ll be in this outfit all day, so I want to transition in and out of the stadium seamlessly. I really want this grey Yanks cap, but it’s constantly sold out of Nordstrom and I forget to look for it when I’m at the stadium. But anyway, jeans – ripped and either white or denim – and a navy top is effortless, comfy and easy for a day at the ballpark. If it’s really hot out, I’ll swap the jeans for shorts. Also, I’m a big advocate for wearing Converse to for a game, but simple slides work too.
Sidenote: when I lived in Boston, this was still my go-to baseball outfit because the navy and white could accidentally be interpreted as home team support. Hashtag tricked ya.
